Sarah Jane and Travis’s Wedding

November 11, 2019 by Kate @ The Two Bananas Leave a Comment

I meant to write this post a looooong time ago – my friends Sarah Jane and Travis got married back in April. But here it is now, and I couldn’t be happier to share some photos from photos from this amazing wedding in Brooklyn Bridge Park!

The wedding of two friends is always a special thing, and to me, when I get to photograph it, it’s even more special. By birth, I have one older brother, but in reality I have five: my biological brother, Ben, and four of his closest friends, Josh, Nico, Sufiyan and Travis. I’ve known these guys for what feels like my entire life, one of them from practically birth and the others from the about the age of seven. Growing up, I had a typical big-brother-little-sister relationship with them; I thought they were all super cool and wanted to hang out with them all the time, and they all thought I was super annoying and had no interest in hanging out with a little girl. And while most of the time I probably got on their nerves and they teased me like crazy, I also always knew that I was incredibly lucky to have them. It always felt like they had my back no matter what, and it also made me feel like a tough guy to know I had five actual tough guys backing me up. That’s what made it so special to me when Travis, one of these big brothers, asked me if I would photograph his wedding: it felt like the least I could do to thank him for putting up with me as a little sister for all those years.

What I love about Travis is that he’s just so much fun to be around. He’s always laughing and smiling and cracking jokes, but he’s also incredibly easy to talk to and just be with. And the best thing about Travis with Sarah Jane is that she complements him perfectly, as he does her, in all these ways. While I haven’t known Sarah Jane nearly as long as I’ve known Travis, and in recent years I haven’t gotten to hang out with them as much as I would like, she is possibly one of the most comfortable, welcoming, and straight up fun people I’ve ever met. And watching them together, you truly understand why they’re so perfect for each other: they are nothing but laughter and silliness and joy. I hope that through my photographs I was able to capture even a fraction of the palpable joy that was so prevalent on their wedding day, and I wish these two all the happiness and love that life has to offer!
